The events industry are networkers first and then problem solvers second and here at One Birdcage Walk, our team assist in hundreds of events and conferences each year, whether taking place in our Lecture Theatre, stunning Library or smaller conference spaces, the OBW team will ensure your event goes well. This is the first in this news article series, where we would like you to meet one of the OBW team each month.
Sticking true to our networking ways, this month we would like to introduce the first team member, our fabulous Senior Executive, Angie Peña.
Hi Angie, would you mind sharing with us about your background and bet that you’ve had plenty of memorable customer experiences that you’ve dealt with! Does one spring to mind?
I have worked in many kinds of events and venues. However, my favourite, was to create a whole menu of canapes and drinks with the catering team for a client that had a Japanese culinary theme. It required a whole lot of research regarding seasonal products for both ingredients and the dishes that not only looked, but hopefully tasted the best, we were really trying our best to get an authentic experience for this client. I personally had to source the drinks and dessert by myself, as we didn’t have the onsite experience for both. Finding an authentic supplier for the dessert and ensuring delivery of a high-end experience was the cherry on the top.
What do you like most about OBW?
I like how friendly and flexible we all are in the team. We all help each other and it’s great to know that you will be happy at work.
What’s Angie’s biggest tip to an event organiser when booking here at OBW?
Share any of the details that you currently have, even the small ones! The best way to ensure that the event is a success is to share the full story of your upcoming event, even if some things are still undecided, as this will really make sure that you and the venue are on the same page.
Finally, Angie, could you let us know a favourite pastime when not helping fellow event organisers?
I like to do yoga, read and watch bad movies.
